Introduction
Welcome
to the 4th Black Screen Film & Video Festival 2002.
This year in addition
to our Newcomers on screen and main themed screenings, the focus of the
festival is to encourage young talent alongside emerging filmmakers. We
have enhanced our program to include the ‘Talent Lab’ - over
two days of workshops where participants will have the opportunity to
work with experts and develop their skills. By collaborating with Merseyside
schools we have scheduled a selection of educational events, screenings
and workshops in conjunction with the BFI. We have also linked up with
experts from the video games industry to provide an exciting fun day that
will lead onto future training workshops.
This year we are delighted to link up with Liverpool's exciting new creative
foundation FACT, the prestigious EMMA Awards, National Schools Film Week,
Cosgrove Hall, Warthog and Red Frog.
Blackscreen contributed to the Liverpool European Capital of Culture bid
2008 and hopefully the new talent from this year's young people's event
will be prominent on the screens by then.
Finally I would like to thank all our sponsors and a ‘big up’
to the festival team & volunteers for all their hard work and long
hours in producing a terrific program.
Hope you enjoy it.
