Hip Hop Day
In line with the recent surge of interest in the hip hop genre, and its inclusion in many forms of main stream education and media, Blackscreen are bringing a daylong programme of holistic hip hop Edutainment.
Hip Hop Workshops
12:00pm Fact Centre (The Box)
In association with Elemental Education, and local hip hop heroes, The Shakti, the next generation of musical visionaries, are being given the opportunity to part take in an afternoon of hip hop master classes.
Working alongside experienced forefathers of the art, students will be able to involve themselves in workshops which vary from Rapping, Freestyle, Human Beat Box, Turntablism, DJ Mixing/Scratching and Production.
Accompanied by screenings of Inventos - a documentary on Cuban Hip Hop and Whatever (A Teenage Musical)

Bollywood comes to Liverpool
With a curry night, Bollywood sing a long and for those still up to it - a bangra bash on the next day. Also screening Mohabbatein for all you Bollywood fans.
World in One City Shorts
A programme of short films made by international film-makers from the USA, Greece, Australia and the Caribbean.
Each year the festivlal has widened it s screenings with its audience development participation. This year we are pleased to be screening for the Mary Seacole Group, Steve Biko House, 3rd Generation and the NorthWest Disability Film Group.

A day long tap dancing extravaganza celebrating the legacy of the actor & dancer Gregory Hines with this special workshop.

With a celebrity panel discussing their achievements in the industry. Everything you wanted to know about how to get into the media but were afraid to ask can be found here.
There are four workshops available to choose from:
A, Telling The Tale
For all you budding writers, this workshop will involve plot lines, character development, synopsis techniques and pitching your ideas for novels, scripts and short stories.
B, Lights, Camera, Action
A hands on session with professional technicians from the Womens Indepentent Cinema House giving practical advice on the use of digital film technology.
C, Acting with Directors/Directing with Actors
For those who want to act or direct, a session working on the technical, visionary and interpersonal skills required.
D, Presenting Yourself
All you need to know about presenting yourself, your CV and your portfolio when approaching agents or auditions. The session will also include interview techniques and makeover by Boots and Clinique.
